Sustainability Business Architect
As a Sustainability Business Architect Mr. Upward is a designer of flourishing enterprises. This combines the roles of:
•A thought leader to owners and senior management on the strategic need for and practical implications of the use of technology, business process and organizational change to sustainably deliver stakeholder value.
•An academic, teaching and researching all aspects of the business / technology / sustainability relationship (business process, value, environment, people, change, technology, systems etc.)
Mr. Upward has thirty years of management consulting experience focused on a full range of business process and information systems projects at a variety of blue chip telecommunications and other companies.
Mr. Upward is a pracademic - a practicing academic:
•Adjunct Professor in the Faculties of Graduate Studies & Design and an Industry Partner of the Strategic Innovation Lab (sLab) at OCAD University, Canada’s largest Design School.
•Masters of Environmental Studies in Business Model Design and Sustainability and holds a Graduate Diploma in Business + Environment from York University’s Faculty of Environmental Studies and Schulich School of Business
•Member Business Architects Association
•Founding member OCADU Strategic Innovation Lab's Strongly Sustainable Business Model Group (SSBMG)
•On the advisory board of Green Enterprise Toronto (GET)
•Founding member CMC-Canada's Energy & Climate Change Special Interest Group
•Member Bio-Inspired Design Community
He has a strong delivery and quality orientation, with excellent strategic analytical and synthetic abilities, matched by significant experience and implementation successes in the telecommunications and other industries.
In addition, Mr. Upward has deep knowledge of and growing experience in three dimensions of sustainability: economic/profit, social/people, and environmental/planet.

Mr. Upward possesses broad hybrid business, technology and sustainability knowledge, covering: leadership, business model design, business process design, project/change management, financial principles and processes, call centre principles and processes, enterprise applications (ERP, CRM, SCM etc.) and infrastructures (SAP NetWeaver, etc.), structured analysis and design methodologies, human computer interaction, web based systems, data warehouse, client/server systems and RDMS (OLTP, OLAP)
